Is that true that dog can only see 3D and not 2D i.e. picture or TV?

My dogs try to play with the doggy in the mirror..wouldn't that be the same as a picture on TV? They most definitely see themselves in the mirror..


My friend had a Boston terrier that had a favorite video..It was a animal dancing video, and the dog mimicked most of the actions..

So, other than all of them not seeing the color red well, they all see differently..Some can watch TV, and some can not see it as well..Is that true that dog can only see 3D and not 2D i.e. picture or TV?

I had a Scottie who would come running to the TV if she saw a cat. It didn't even have to be a real cat -- just a cartoonish one in an ad. And the volume didn't have to be on, either, so it wasn't the meowing that attracted her. I don't know if it's normal, but Holly certainly gave every indication of recognizing a two dimensional cat (which she loathed, BTW.)





Several of my dogs also were fascinated with their reflection in a large framed mirror. They used to run around behind it, looking for the ';puppy'; they could see but not smell. The look on their little faces was priceless when there was no dog back there.
i don't think it is true, my 8 yr old rottie has been watchin tv every since she was a puppy, she barks at every animal she sees on tv. it doesn't matter if it is a fish, snake, bird, cat or dog, if she sees it she will bark at it, and it is only animals she barks at
It seems to be. Dogs will sometimes react to barking on TV, but never watch it. The recognize smells but not pictures. In rare cases I have seen a dog react to its reflection in a mirror, but mostly only during puppyhood.
Like myself--I am sure that many other dog owners would like to think that their dogs watch tv with them, but it is true --they can not see whats on the tv. , however, my dogs act like they are watching the tube but its only because of the noises and shadows of lights.

its pretty funny to watch them look 4 the stik afterwards
Dogs vision tends to be more sensitive to movement and flickering. Therefore rather than seeing the images on the TV screen and responding to them they are responding to the movement on the screen and the flickering of the images.
I didn't know that fact.
Well I dont know,,,,,,,,, seems like my dog spends a lot of time looking at a screen
